Qué es destination wedding
Are you in love with the city of Seville or the beaches of Cadiz? Would you like to organize your wedding in your favorite city in the world? Do you want to turn your wedding into an unforgettable and unique experience for you and your guests? If you are looking for a dream wedding in a different country than yours, then you are dreaming of a destination wedding.
Destination weddings are those celebrated in a different country than the bride and groom’s home country.
More and more couples from other countries in Europe and even from other continents are deciding to get married in Spain and specifically in Andalusia. Its climate, architectural beauty, variety of landscapes, culture and gastronomy are just some of the advantages of getting married in Andalusia.
In one only community you can get married with views of the Alhambra in Granada, near the Cathedral of Seville or at the beautiful beaches of Bologna in Cadiz.

DESTINATION WEDDING: WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT DESTINATION?
The first thing to consider is the overall budget for the organization of the wedding.
Carrying out a destination wedding implies the displacement to another country not only of the couple but also of the rest of the guests, normally 90% of the guests come from countries different from the one chosen for the celebration of the wedding.
This means you have to take into account the transport connection when choosing the city, and the minimum time in advance that both the couple and the guests have to travel, in order to do it peacefully and without suffering setbacks.
On the other hand, due to the costs that the guests must assume due to the transfer to another country, these are weddings with a reduced number of guests. Although we must point out that it’ s the perfect excuse to travel to another country and take advantage of it to make a touristic trip around the city, region or the chosen country.

WHY CHOOSE A DESTINATION WEDDING
It is very common that both the couple and the guests, after the wedding, take advantage to enjoy their honeymoon or their vacation in the country of destination (for the newlyweds it’s a big cost saving). Andalusia is the ideal option for this due to its richness and diversity in the eight different cities of its community.
But also, the fact of having a smaller number of guests makes it ideal regarding budget and organization in order to include a pre-wedding the day before and a post-wedding the day after. In this way the wedding is not reduced to a single day but is a celebration with a longer duration.
Of course, we also have to take care of the guests at every moment, helping with the organisation of the trip, the accommodation arrangement, transfers and tourist activities around the city. The fact that at their arrival to the hotel they can find a beautiful welcome kit with relative information of the city is a small detail that will make them start off on the right foot.

DESTINATION WEDDING: OTHER DETAILS TO BE CONSIDERED
Last but not least, we cannot forget the legal and official procedures for the validity of the marriage. Spain is the third largest tourist destination in the world after France and the United States, so it is not surprising to find a tendency towards marriages in this country.
However, to be able to contract a civil marriage one of the members of the couple must have at least two years of residence in our country, but it’ s also possible to get civilly married in your country and then have a symbolic ceremony in the city chosen for your destination wedding.
If, on the other hand, you want to get married through the Catholic rite, this option is possible. You can get married in the destination wedding itself, although there is an important bureaucratic procedure to be carried out.
The difficulty of contracting a civil marriage in our country leads most couples to carry out a symbolic ceremony without any legal bond. But I personally think it is a beautiful option to contract a civil marriage in the couple’s home country and have a symbolic ceremony in the selected destination.
Finally, if organizing a wedding in your own country can be tedious and stressful, holding it in a country other than yours can be overwhelming. The best solution is to hire an in-country wedding planner.
This person will know how to find you the best venues, hotels, suppliers (catering, lighting, decoration, photographer, videographer, make up artist, etc.) of the city and will recommend you the best months to get married in that city, according to the budget (high or low occupation season) weather, local festivities, etc. And of course he will also be capable of helping you with the legal paperwork, accommodation, transfers and any special needs that both the couple and the guests might have.
